Help!!! stalling at idle
I'm having a problem with my car stalling out at idle, but runs fine as long as you keep your foot on the gas. Anyone have any ideas of what the cause could be???
Also i just noticed there is a very strong smell of gasoline when i turn the car on.

possible TPS seems to be the most commin when thats happening , i know this is in the turbo section but are you turbo, and about the gas i would go through the injector seals and fuel rail section to see if you can see and standing gas or dripping gas that can never be good but untill you locate the gas problem dont concider what i said b4 the last thing u want is to catch on fire so u can turn your key all the way on with out starting to ge the fuel pump on and take a look around to see if u can see gas leaking this maby be the whole problem ether way just be safe about it.

yes i am turbo.
Just wondering if maybe my spark plugs are bad??? The car was running fine until I got on it pretty good then had to take my foot off the gas really fast. At first I thought maybe i just flooded the engine with gas, but i'm not really sure. Would that cause the engine to fumble at idle or cause my spark plugs to go bad.

you could as thye say fowel them out but you would have to take them out and see flooding proly isnt going to be the factor of that if it is then maby they craped out, wut plugs and heat are you running on that??
also hard to say if it would flood i dont really understande the rrm 5th ijector concept but i know at a certain rpm it dumpes fuel but i dont know if thats also controlled but throttle pos ether so if it wernt and u were at high rpm then u let off the 5th injector would still be dumping extra fuel into it but i can only assume u have a a/f guage in it and would have noticed it going way off the chart if that were the case.

well i believe that a heat of 7 ( NGK IR) is ideal for the turbo set up but once again thats jsut my opinion you really gotta take a pic of the sparkplugs

It could possibly be plugs but if they are that fouled they would create a missfire with higher load. Since you are turbo check to see if you have a tight seal around your MAF also make sure that the element is clean. Could be part of your problem.

Sounds like a recirc problem when the throttle plate closes. check for your recirc valve, I think it's not doing the job right. Just a thought.

i've had a couple people say it could be the maf, so i'll check it out when i can. I've had softball every night this week so working on the car hasn't been an option. If anyone knows what softball is like it means just getting wasted and having no time for anything thing else. At leat since my car is broke down the wife has to drive!!!!!

not yet.... tried cleaning maf and spraying carb cleaner in throttlebody. it worked for about 35mi and then started up again but found out that coming to a stop slowly will not stall it out but having to stop regular or quickly will stall it out... maybe a vac leak but i don't know where i checked everything
