How do the stock brakes handle the turbo?

Hi everyone, i just wanted to see how your guys' brakes handle your force induced RA's.

Can our stock brakes handle the extra boost or is it almost a sure thing that you upgrade the brakes? if so, do you need to go bigger brakes? maybe slotted rotors? of maybe just pads?

thanks!

It's kind of a silly question. The braking system has no relation to the turbo system. Adding a turbo won't at all change how your brakes are currently performing.

HAHA.....i don't know...usually stock brakes can only handle 3-4psi
i think you need to re-word your question, but i think i know what you are asking.
in order to go faster, you also need to stop faster as well. Our stock brakes are decent out of the factory. I think the RRM car only has larger slotted rotors and upgraded pads. Which ones? Possibly the axxis ones. A 2 pot brake upgrade from a dsm fares little advantage IMO.

I don't have turbo.. but my stock brakes have been holding up since I got it...
I agree with chengstar.

2004 RA at 57k miles. After a tune up the other day, I found out that my front brakes have only 30% left of it. That's like a month or two.. That's pretty good if you ask me..

Drives: your mom crazy with my striking good looks

I changed all four at 69k. all four were in need of replacement. considering I drive as fast and hard (possibly faster and harder) than any of the turbo guys on here I'd say that's a decent amount of miles.

as for performance, I was impressed "out of the box" so to speak. I rarely noticed any fade stopping under 100mph a few consecutive times, and only after a few consecutive +100mph stops noticed significant fade. with the cars low weight, ebd system, and low drivetrain mass (assumed from the low drive train power loss) the factory brakes and brake system are well suited to the driving style I use it for

I replaced the OEM equipment with tri-netmotorsports ebay rotors and ebc red stuff pads all the way around a 1000 miles or so ago. The rotors are dimpled and slotted; the slots do not go through the rotor, only as deep as the dimples. I've never seen that, but figured it's less likely to crack so what the hell The pads are awesome. nothing less I could say about them. also, now when I'm driving down the road they make this cool swishing/ticking sound. they stop better than I'd ever imagined

The stock brakes will be fine with the turbo, I've done some hard stopping since I had the ride turbo'd. The truth is as Dan said, I've never gone any "faster" than I have when I was N/A. Only acceleration is faster with the turbo.

I did invest in new brakes after about 8000km just because I got my hands on a Wilwood kit.
