Supercharged RA
hello, im from Australia and we don't get the RA's, but we do get the CH VRX, which is practically the same minus some ralliart bits
I'm just wondering if anyone has had luck supercharging a 4g69? i know that Ripp Modifications make a kit, but im just wondering how it would go on our 4g69's compared to yours, how drivable they are

Just Google "Ripp Mods", they have a nice website. This shop has been offering supercharger systems for many years for Chrysler, Jeep, and Mitsubishi vehicles. Their stuff is quality and very fairly priced. Don't listen to anybody on this forum, just check out their website and contact them. Also, Ripp Mods has posted a Lancer Ralliart dyno run on YouTube, check it out.
The guy who's car burned has posted a nicely written synopsis of his experience, and he says the fire was not Ripps fault, it was due to a fuel line installed incorrectly by a mechanic. Again, there are some nasty ignoramuses who bash superchargers while offering no intelligent criticism.

yep, and then there are people who understand things in more detail than others. nice job summing up one thread on the subject
the problem with the kit is the fact that things still remain to be uncovered. that fuel line is one of the things that someone putting this kit on the car is going to have to diagnose and fix beforehand. I'm not saying Allen or his mechanic did a poor job, but they put a little too much trust into an untested kit
RRM's turbo kit has had it's share of issues, but because so many people have installed it and RRM has been good enough to give 100% phone and online support most of these issues are easily resolved. the same issues have shown up multiple times, which means it's not just a particular install. I would be willing to bet if Allen had the kit running today we would have heard of at least one or two other issues he had to resolve before the kit was running properly all the time.
if you decide to go with the supercharger kit over the turbo kit, regardless of what you think of either companies products, you have to realize that neither kit is completely bolt on and both have their issues.
opinions are like *******s, everyone has one. these are some plain and simple statements to help you form your own *******.

Im thinking the S/C route over the turbo becuase the whine of the S/C is like nothing else, and it has a good sleeper effect
Thanks for all your response's, might give RIPP a call

It doesn't hurt, when you go the route that you choose, to double or triple check everything. And watch for cheap hoses and connections. I'd much rather spend the extra bit of time and money swapping out a cheap part for a good one, than see another fire under the hood. Good luck man.

yeah, that's not exactly the same thing though. you are talking about a different frame, engine, ecu, etc. One kit may be tried and true, but you just posted in RAonLSD's thread about turbotrix not knowing how to tune an RA so you already know my argument. RIPP put this on ONE CAR that we know of. the ONE member that posted up on EvoM about the RIPP kit on HIS car, not a friend of his nor someone he knows, had problems with it. when Allen installed it on his car something went wrong and it burnt to the ground regardless of the factual cause.
I am only trying to lay the facts out and provide the proper counseling to make sure someone doesn't burn down with the car. if you decide to supercharge your car you need to be aware that the kit is NOT TIME PROVEN and you should NOT treat it as such. with an experienced installer/tuner you should be able to get this supercharger up and running on the RA as it should be, but if you are looking for easy HP you need to reconsider.

Thanks very much for your info mate, is not an easy way for HP, it is either this or a serious NA engine, as i like being difficult and don't really like turbo's
the car over time will be built up, forged, ported and polished, stand-alone ECU, custom pulley for more boost, LSD, straight cut gears, balanced and all tat fun stuff.
but for now I'm looking for a relatively "Bolt-in" Application that can be further enhanced later, all the work will be done by a performance shop as I'm not very good on the practical side of engine things

Dan dont get me wrong I would never and i repeat NEVER EVER EVER recommend anybody to get the S/C Im a Turbo guy S/C's is not my thing. I know that i was talking about a completely different car the reason that i said that was just to say that on certain cars its ok to S/C it. and that Ripp Mods might be a good company i never dealt with them so i wouldnt know but believe me when i say this(no offense to RIPP MODS) NO BODY SUPERCHARGE THE RA I DEFINITLY DO NOT RECOMMEND IT
