4g63 turbo exhaust manifold adapter

I have been talking to a friend that does quite a bit of jdm fab work and we tossed around the idea of building an adapter to enable the 4g63 exhaust manifold to attach to the 4g69.

I am wondering if a.) anyone has looked into this in the past
and b.) if this approach would be preferred over an adapter to attach say a t2 flange (t28) to the bottom of the stock exhaust manifold (bolt up). obviously with this approach there may be a bit of a fitment issue but I think that we can work around that.

any feedback would be appreciated.

If you can do all that, why not just make a 4G69 turbo manifold from scratch?

hey bro if you can do it let me know because those 4G63 turbo manifolds are out there for sale, if you can modify it to fit a T28 let me know so I can get one and build my own turbo kit. that would be fun to do. but if not then i'll be getting an RRM turbo kit hey at least this guy is thinking cost effective and if it works who hoooo it works!

Cost effectiveness, not to mention our stock manifolds flow damn well. Why would you want to spend close to 500 on something when you could spend 150?
If this can be pulled off it will be one more piece of a cost effective turbo kit.

As far as an adapter for the 4g63 manifold, there are a ton of them out there and the stock cast iron ones are dirt cheap and hard to crack.

But you're not going to be using our stock manifold...

Nevermind. Best of luck with this.

at this stage it could go either way, I'm leaning towards the bolt up t2 turbo flange, my friend is leaning towards the adapter. As far as a 4g63 to 4g69 plate, there would be a lot less r&d cost involved than with a complete manifold build out. but if i missed something please let me know the more brains the better

I'm talking about actually taking an existing flange for a t28 and creating an adapter that would bolt up to our stock manifold.

I think that's the gist of it. I'm interested in how that's gonna work myself. Don't we have pretty long tubes as it is? I guess on the plus side we wouldn't need a very long oil line to the turbo! It's an interesting project but I think the manifold adapter is going to be the easier of the 2.

Sory about the lack of reply I just got back from a weekend back home in New Orleans. Damn it looks bad back there.

Anyway.. Yeah thats the gist of it. as far as the length of the tubes, we will see.
I figure that it shouldn't be too much trouble to harness another 100-120 horses out of the stocker with the adapter. While it may not be good for making huge power it should be sufficent for the time being. As for adapting the flange we will just have to see how the turbo will fit (whether or not the fans will need to be removed and slim ones put in place, etc) and whether or not we will need to make a mount for the turbo (t28, could get a bit heavy.)

Any idea how much weight the stock manifold can support?

Other than that it looks good down pipe attaches to the manifold with a mls gasket (multi layer steel) so no clay gasket to deal with.

Once again if anyone has any ideas on this I would love to hear them
