water spots

I can't get water spots off my car! I always keep it pretty clean and i wax. What should I do and does anyone else get terrible water spots?

I use Meguiars Quick Detail spray that came in my Enthusiast Car Care Kit. Great for getting rid of spots and what not inbetween washings.

i use the meguiars detail spray, too. works well. keep a terry cloth in the trunk and you should be fine. Also may want to get a nice dry cloth (the really thin yellow rubbery ones work great!) If it rans, take that over it really fast when it stops, and you wont get any spots.

I use the California blade to just brush the water off after I get in my garage coming in from rain... gets the job done!

Water spots on paint will come out either cleaner wax or compound, don't over do it with the compound. Water spots on the window now that's a problem. The spots are mineral deposits and every car I ever had I've had this problem. I've tried vinegar, industrial window cleaner, regular window cleaner and nothing works. I've asked around and was told that the quality of the glass that is used in cars now suck and that was the reason for the spots. I really don't know but what I do know is that water spots suckkkkkk. If anyone has some good advice on that I would greatly appreciate the knowledge.

put a SMALL amount of gasoline on a rag - be real careful not to get any on the paint - and rub off some of the deposits. I've actually found that to work really well, and it cuts through heavy grease as well.

That gasoline on a rag trick works well...
I did that to get all the sticky crap my badges left behind when I took them off.

As far as water spots on the windows I use Liquid Glass by Stoner... It works well for me, but that may be just because my windows are still pretty damned new...

THAT'S the brand... Stoner! I've heard nothig but good things about that glass cleaner, haven't tried it myself yet though.

yeah i also use the california blade as well.. it works very well.. just dont get too crazy because if you do it right you CAN scratch your car... ive done it... just be easy...

If you have hard water (tap) like we do in hawaii, then don't park near sprinklers. As for spots stuck on car here are some tips.
First: NEVER put tap water in your intercooler spray or winshield washer fluid. I don't even use washer fluid. I only put in DISTILLED bottled water. it's not that expensive. make sure distilled or if you use bottled drinking water, make sure there is very little ppm of mineral i.e. 5 or less. make sure its not mineral water also.
2nd: Make sure you wax your car , actually, i don't always wax. only once a year but every other month I use a product called REJEX. It really works good, and makes the best bead I have ever seen on a car ever. It costs about $18.00 a bottle, You might have to look it up online to find a supplier near you.
3rd: If your car has only a few spots that won't come out, I use MOTHERS REFLECTIONS car polish w/ a buffer, but for small area's, hand polish is better, using this method compounding is not neccessary. Mcguires makes a good one too but the REFLECTIONS polish is really good if you can find it.
4th: if you have heavy spots then you can use a hydrocloric acid based waterspot remover. You can get this at many detailing shops, but avoid the cheap stuff sold at like wal mart etc. I get mine from Auto Chem Supply of Hawaii, and it is their own brand, but I'm sure you can find a detailing supply store near where you live.
5th: You can use a clay bar, but it takes forever, and you will lose patience.
note: If you use the water spot remover, do it where there is no sun, and make sure you have plenty of water to rinse car, lots of clean towels, and patience to do only a small area at a time.
I have had 3 black cars in a row, including the tarmac black evo that I am waiting for to be shipped from california. WE also have really really hard water in hawaii but that is what makes it taste good.
