HID Ballast Mounting?

I just picked up a HID conversion kit (8000k) and am going to install it tomorrow. I was just wondering where people have mounted their ballasts, and what they used?

I have seen most people install them under their head lights? But I found some had problems with them being damaged due to water...

Any suggestions?

A friend and I put his on the plastic on the inside of the wheel well. I have a question for you. Are you using the stock housings or are you going with a projector?

I just took the brackets that came with it and kind of bent the bracket to be slid under the headlight's mounting bracket... It probably sounds confusing but I'll take a picture for you tomorrow if need be

I'm curious why you'd have to splice wires... What type of setup did you buy? Did you ever figure out where you're going to mount your ballast? I have the same projectors that you probably have

oh, the projectors and the whole casing was made for european versions of the lancer =( it was a mess putting everything together.

so in order to get the actual bulbs to fit into the housing, I had to get H7 HID kit (instead of 9007)

I can't get at the bulb on my passenger side because of the washer fluid thingy thats in the way.. was planning to wait for spring since its -20 outside...

where did you get your lamps? im kind of pissed i wasted my money of these ones...

I bought mine from eBay... and everything seems to fit really well... where did you get yours?

depoautolights... yea i looked on ebay, the lights were almost the sasme except mine has a yellow reflector... the only reason i paid an extra 100$ for mine is because the ebay seller said they were not HID compatible, while the ones on the site did... =(

I made my HIDs fit in the eBay ones so it wasn't soo bad... I wonder what the major difference is that you can't fit your h7 bulbs in there.... What do you mean you had 9007? the bulbs for the projector should be h1 and h7

and yes... in order to even work with the bulbs inside the housings you'll need to take your bumper off and take out the headlights... its a major pain otherwise to squeeze your hands in there and whatnot

oh originally the car is stock with 9007, the new headlights ave H7 and H1. So I had to splice the wires to make them fit in the sockets of my car.

How are the ebay projectors? the cut offs good?

The cutoffs are decent... I'll take a pic if you want but i'll have to post it like tomorrow or something... anyway the headlights that you bought should have a socket ready to plug into the 9007 outlet... at least thats what I got with mine... maybe yours are really different...
