RRM Underdrive Pulley

Hello, I know that there has probably been a post on this before but I havent been able to find one for the RRM version for their UDP but I was wondering if anyone would be able to provide help for installing this with pictures? I'm aware that they have supplied instructions somewhere but I'm new when it comes to cars and not too familiar with just reading instructions when it comes to installations.

Thanks for any help =]

Thanks for the help anyway souless =] maybe tw3ntyon3 will be able to post up pictures throughout his installation. I really needed more like a walkthrough w/ pictures so I know what to look for and what to mess with vs assuming one part is something else and taking it apart.

One of the things that confused me was it says you need a 1/2 wrench with an extension, but do I just stick the extension somewhere without a socket at the end? I'm sorry if that seemed like a stupid question but again I'm new at this and I apologize.

no. i didnt even need an extension. there really isnt any other parts down there to confuse it with, right next to the pully you want to remove is the tensioner, its to the left of the pully, once you pull the splash guard off youll see exactly what youll have to do, was simple while looking at it, just the damn tensioner didnt want to work properly with me lol. had to improvise. and i was doing this with very little experience lol. only things ive done was instal my intake, change oil, and now how to install the belt and pully haha.

Actually, I did use the 1/2 drive with extension. On the belt tensioner, there is a place where you put it (without a socket at the end is correct) and you turn it counter-clock wise. This turns the belt tensioner counter-clock wise and you just jam an allen wrench in the hole beneath the belt tensioner to hold it in place. There are two holes to do this part, one on the belt tensioner and one behind it, when you turn the belt tensioner you have to line up the holes and put the allen wrench through it.

I will post pictures soon. I brought my camera to work but forgot the cable for it. Hopefully, I can better explain with the pictures up. I should have them on here around lunch time (2pm for me).

It took me about 2 hours but I was also taking care of my 2 year old at the same time and making sure I did everything right.

i can try to help you out for a bit, installing the UDP was a b*tch in my experience, haha. thank god i had a friend to help me, it probably took us like 5 hours just because we were so clueless about the tensioner. if u can get that tensioner thing down, then it shouldnt take more than half an hour. basically, you're supposed to get a 1/2 wrench that you stick into the tensioner to pull it back. once you take everything off, you will see a 1/2 x1/2 square hole, thats where you stick the wrench in. you're supposed to pull it back (tensioner needs to be moved towards the back of the car)

the tensioner is no joke, you need a lot of strength to push it back and ur supposed to have the allen key in the small hole so when you move it back far enough, you slide the allen key all the way through so it holds it. BEWARE though, in my experience, the slot for the 1/2 wrench snapped off... cheap as Mitsu... my friend used his muscle to push it back with his arm giving me enough time to put 2 bolts on the pulley and then we were pretty much done. the belt route that RRM provides is great, so that part is cake. well let me know if that makes sense, let me know if u need a drawing even, i can probably paint something that will make sense, lol

Woah, beat you by a minute! The belt tensioner part confused me as well. I think it's because of the way the instructions say to 'pull it towards the front of the car' (so the tensioner moves towards the back of the car). It would have made more sense to me if they would have said 'Jam the 1/2 drive onto the slot in the belt tensioner and turn it counter-clock wise'.

You just stick the 1/2 drive in there and turn it as if you're loosening a bolt. It does take some strength though.

Alright, this is what it looks like when you take the splash guards off:

I'll try to explain the picture below.
GREEN = holes on the belt tensioner you need to line up and jam the allen wrench into.
RED = where you place the 1/2 inch drive with extension and turn counter-clock wise allowing the holes to line up.
BLUE = underdrive pulley.

Allen wrench jammed in there:

All done:

Revs are so much quicker, makes down shifting a lot easier. Tons of fun. Let me know if this made sense or not.

Good luck!

EDIT: Someone asked me for these pictures again.. I had to re-do these real quick, my wife took them off her myspace...
