Anyone Hook up a Oil Press Gauge?

I was wondering if anyone here has installed a Oil Press. Gauge in their RA yet?
if it may be installed in the same location as the EVOs, which is by the oil filter

Thanks

I have one, but I did it by replacing the stock sender with the aftermarket one.

Look into getting the oil adapter plate, you can find em through Prosport I believe.

you don't need the adapter plate. mitsu has left us a spot right above the filter facing the wheel well. 1/8th npt and everything.

Yeah, it comes with two outputs, one for the gauge and one for a light, though I don't currently have the light hooked up, just the gauge. This particular sensor triggers the light at ~5 psi, but our cars idle at 3-4.

Drives: '04 'mac black EVO8, '04 black onyx IS300, 1998 eclipse gst(R.I.P.), 1993 Honda Accord A.E., 1990 Ford Mustang-built 302(sold), 1971 Chevy Elco built 307

pressure is more relevant. IF you have no oil pressure, what is the temp going to do for you?? it is BEST to get both in an evo, since it has a factory oil cooler. but if your limited to space, oil pressure is best.

to me you should have both; pressure so you can be sure your pump is operating like it's supposed to and temperature because that's how you can tell everything is cooling like it's supposed to if you wanted to go overkill on a turbo car you could go both before and after the turbo with temperature sensors.

IMO, pressure is easily more important. You can get a good idea of your oil temp from the oil pressure. I wouldn't bother with a temp gauge unless you've gone turbo.

especially with an aluminum head temperature is important. oil and coolant both wick heat from the engine, but at different rates. these temperatures will give you a real picture of when the engine is warm enough to beat on instead of a partial picture. coolant heats up entirely too fast to start beating it when that needle levels off.

Yeah, but a pressure gauge will still give you that info. Since colder oil doesn't flow as well, it'll register a higher pressure. I don't recall if you have a pressure gauge or not, but if you do, I'm sure you've noticed that when you start the car cold, at idle the pressure is anywhere from 60-80 psi. It takes 15-20 minutes of driving before the oil finally gets hot enough to drop down to ~5 psi at idle, where it should be. This is also handy info for if you have to adjust valve lash, as it's a good way to be sure that you've got the engine hot enough.
