hmm i jsut read something about this earlier this week i think there are 2 switches you need to disconnect one or both of them above the clutch and for a remote start you need an imobalizer... newyas all i can tell you is that some1 here knows the answer and it exists on the board

Yeah, just look up under the dash where the clutch pedal is. You'll see a switch, just unplug it.

Drives: 2006 Silver Ralliart

pretty noob question, but if you did unplug it and got a remote starter what would happen if it was in gear? would it start lurch forward and stall or just not start at all?

The car would start lurching forward. If the ebrake wasn't on, it'd be going through a wall. Still a chance of that with the ebrake on. It's generally a bad idea to leave your car in gear, anyways (IMO).

Drives: Mivec Power!

^ True. I left it on when I parked it in my garage, and just fired her up. I could honestly say I was about 1-3mm (no joke) from the wall.

When I'm on inclines, im always in gear.

Drives: your mom crazy with my striking good looks

I'm always in gear although it would be nice to have the car (and eventually the turbo ) warmed up when I leave in the morning this is probably the VERY last thing on my list not that I would have time to install it

Drives: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES

I don't have a RA but I do have a remote start on my 5 speed Lancer. One time I forgot to get it out of gear and it was parked in front of the garage. Next morning I fired her up with my remote start and my alarm goes off! I run outside with my Mag lite(IDK if this is what they are called. its the ones cops have.) flashlight ready in hand and from far nothing looked wrong. When I got close I saw what happened. Luckily we have gravel in front of our garage so all it did is just sit there and spin the tires. They were about good 4 inches into the ground.

To keep this from happening again I have mounted a switch so when the handbrake is off it wont start. Just a little bit of safety. I am also trying to figure out how to make a switch so it wont start while in gear.

What do you mean? Just connect your black/white wire from the brain to the ebrake.
